Roads closed by snow

Date published: 07 December 2012

HEAVY snow and ice forced road closures last night.

Holmfirth Road was shut both ways from Chew Valley Road in Greenfield to Woodhead Road in Holmfirth at around 9pm last night, but reopened at 7.30am today.

Huddersfield Road in Denshaw was closed in both directions from the Denshaw crossroads to Moselden Heights in West Yorkshire and reopened before rush hour this morning.

And Oldham Road was closed from the junction at Buckstones Road at Grains Bar to the Rochdale Road junction in Ripponden. It reopened this morning.

Motorists on the M62 faced delays of up to four hours last night between junction 20 at Oldham and junction 25 at Dewsbury.

oldham did the job 100% but failure was on Rochdale. Kirklees - again the M62 rolls over

I've seen the photos from Saddleworth moor, and frankly there doesn't seem to be much snow. Is this a case of Health & safety going over the top again, because in days before H&S the road was only ever closed when it was impassable.

Think you will find that the problem on the M62 was at Junction 20 Oldham/Rochdale. Went both ways from Milnrow and it was as clear as a bell both ways. Kirklees and Calderdale both did their job as well as Oldham.

Oldham did a the job 100%,which part of the town were you in rhodes i was turned away from buckstones road when i was almost at the top by police then had to go to newhey and over the moorcock into Denshaw, this road was far worse than buckstones road but no sign of the gritters until much later by which time i had been hit from behind by someone sliding down the hill and endured almost one and half hours of weaving in and out of abandoned cars trucks vans etc.thats 100% eh.
