Oldham digs deep!

PEOPLE went potty for Pudsey with a range of wacky events for Children in Need.
Nurseries, schools, companies, organisations and individuals across the borough did their bit for the annual fundraising extravaganza.
They ranged from Hathershaw College pupils dunking mentors with gunge to dancers at Samantha Jones School of Dance, Chadderton, lacing up their shoes for a tapathon.
Students at Oldham Sixth Form College dressed up in colourful spots and stripes, while plenty of muscle was needed for a 10,000 press-up challenge at Oldham College.
Others events included a pyjama party at Brooklands Nursery, Greenacres, pupils dressing up at Smart Start Nursery, Greenacres, and a range of activities at Failsworth School.
Failsworth School pupil Lauren Hardman (15) also raised more than £500 from a three-day sponsored silence and mum Vicky Hardman said: “Lauren is quite a chatterbox and this has been a massive challenge for her.”
Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, a former Our Lady’s and Oldham Sixth Form College pupil, was one of the presenters of the BBC’s Children in Need programme on Friday. Nearly £26.8million was raised on the night, beating 2011’s total of £26.3million.
