TWO teenagers were rescued from Saddleworth Moor in the early hours of Friday after becoming lost while out on a walk.

The boys, aged 13 and 14, had set off for a walk on the Dovestone Reservoir side of the moor during the day and had ventured much deeper into the moor than they had anticipated.

When it became dark, the boys realised they were lost, however they managed to get in touch with family using mobile phones.

The police then scrambled Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) and a helicopter.

OMRT said: "A hill party, including search dog Bob and his handler, were sent to pick up the lads. They found them safe and well at 1.10am on Friday.

"They were reunited with their parents at Chew Mount at 2.40am."
