A SCHOOL for children with autism has opened its doors to the Oldham community for a summer barbecue to help raise vital funds.

Grasscroft-based Bright Futures School has welcomed residents from across the borough to their fundraising event to support both the pupils and the future of the school.

Debbie Abrahams MP will be supporting the event as the special guest on Friday between 12.30 and 2.15pm.

Secretary Christina Stocks said: "We are a very small, independent school for children with autism and funds are pretty tight. We are coming to the end of term and wanted to organise an open house for people to come and enjoy some food, speak with staff and parents and find out a little bit more about the school to hopefully raise some money."
